Who We Support
Early Childhood NDIS Support Coordination — Gold Coast
ConnectCare supports families of young children navigating the NDIS — from Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) access through to transition to school planning.
Talk to a Local CoordinatorWhat Is Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI)?
ECEI is the NDIS approach for children under 9 years old who have developmental delay or disability. Rather than a traditional NDIS plan, ECEI participants access supports through a more streamlined process designed to get therapies and interventions in place quickly — because early intervention has the strongest evidence base for improving long-term outcomes.
Families on the Gold Coast access ECEI through their Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or Early Childhood partner. ConnectCare can work alongside this process to help families understand their options and coordinate the supports their child needs.
How ConnectCare Supports Families with Young Children
The NDIS process can feel especially daunting when you're also managing the day-to-day demands of parenting a child with disability. ConnectCare takes as much of the coordination burden as possible off parents' plates:
- Explaining the ECEI process and what to expect at each stage
- Identifying and booking appropriate therapists (OT, speech, physio, behaviour support)
- Coordinating multiple providers to avoid scheduling conflicts
- Preparing families for plan reviews with evidence of the child's progress and emerging needs
- Connecting families with parent support groups and community programs on the Gold Coast
- Liaising with childcare centres and educators about in-setting support
Transition to School Planning
The transition from ECEI or early intervention to primary school is one of the most important — and most stressful — milestones for families of children with disability. ConnectCare helps families prepare well in advance:
- Coordinating transition support workers for school readiness programs
- Liaising with the child's school about their support needs and adjustments
- Ensuring the child's NDIS plan is reviewed and updated to reflect school-based supports
- Connecting families with school support planning teams and education department staff
For older children and teenagers, see our page on autism support coordination and our social and community participation services.
