How We Vet NDIS Support Workers and Providers

Every provider in our network is checked before they ever work with one of our participants. We don't pass on names from a public directory — we take personal responsibility for who we recommend. That means we only work with people we'd be comfortable recommending to our own families. The cost of a poor match in disability support work is too high to leave it to chance.

All providers in the ConnectCare network hold:

  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance — checked before any placement
  • National Police Check (within 3 years)
  • Current public liability insurance (minimum $10M)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Cert III Individual Support for personal care workers)
  • ABN registration — all workers correctly structured as contractors or employees
  • Personal interview and reference checks conducted by ConnectCare coordinators
  • Local knowledge of the Gold Coast and Northern NSW area
  • First aid and CPR certification where relevant to the role
  • Manual handling and infection control training for personal care workers

This standard applies whether we're connecting you with a personal care worker in Burleigh Heads, an occupational therapist in Robina, or a community program in Coomera.

NDIS Terms Explained Simply

NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
A national check required for anyone working in risk-assessed roles with NDIS participants. ConnectCare verifies this for every worker.
Service Agreement
A written agreement between you and a provider setting out what services will be delivered, how often, and at what rate. Required before any work begins.
Allied Health
Therapists like OTs, physios, speech pathologists, psychologists, and exercise physiologists. Funded under Capacity Building.
Community Participation
Funding for support workers to help you engage with community activities, events, classes, and social groups.
Respite
Short-term care that gives your usual carer a break. Can be in-home, day-program based, or overnight.
SIL (Supported Independent Living)
24/7 support in a shared or solo home setting. Funded for participants with high daily living support needs.

What Types of NDIS Providers Do We Connect?

ConnectCare matches participants with a wide range of local Gold Coast providers across all NDIS support categories — Core Supports, Capacity Building, and Capital. Our network includes:

  • Personal care and daily living support workers — showering, dressing, grooming, medication reminders
  • Community participation and social support workers — events, appointments, recreational activities
  • Occupational therapists and physiotherapists — functional assessments, rehab, home modification reports
  • Speech pathologists and psychologists — communication, behaviour support, mental health therapy
  • Community programs and day activity centres for social engagement and skills development
  • Domestic assistance providers — cleaning, laundry, household tasks
  • Gardening and yard maintenance contractors
  • Disability transport assistance providers for appointments, shopping, and community access
  • Respite support workers for short-term care relief
  • SIL (Supported Independent Living) house operators across the Gold Coast

We cover the full Gold Coast corridor — from Coolangatta and the Tweed to Coomera and Hope Island in the north — and into Northern Rivers NSW. Our coordinators know the providers in each area personally, which is an advantage no online directory can replicate.

Our Matching Process — How It Works

Provider matching isn't just about finding someone with availability. It's about finding the right fit — for your needs, your personality, your schedule, and your goals. Here's how we approach it:

  • Understand your goals, preferences, schedule, and any specific support requirements
  • Consider personal fit — communication style, gender preference, language, cultural background
  • Match you with providers who have the right skills, availability, and local knowledge
  • Arrange introductions and trial sessions before committing where appropriate
  • Follow up after the first few sessions to confirm the match is working
  • Adjust the match if anything isn't right — without the awkwardness of doing it yourself

Most participants are introduced to a matched provider within 3–5 business days of their initial consultation. We don't send you a list and leave you to figure it out — we make the introduction, sit in on the first meeting where helpful, and stay involved until the relationship is established and working well. If something isn't right, you tell us and we change it. No awkward conversations, no lock-in periods.

Benefits for Participants

  • Faster connections to vetted, local workers
  • Reduced risk of poor matches or worker no-shows
  • Choice and control over who supports you
  • An advocate if something doesn't go to plan
  • More time spent on goals, less on admin
  • Continuity if your support worker becomes unavailable

Benefits for Families & Carers

  • Confidence in worker safety and screening
  • Less time spent vetting providers yourself
  • A central contact if something needs to change
  • Peace of mind when supports are running
  • Backup options when regular workers are unavailable
  • Reduced informal carer load

Why Local Knowledge Makes All the Difference

Online NDIS provider directories give you names. They don't tell you whether that provider has a 6-month waitlist, whether they're experienced with your specific disability type, or whether they've had complaints from other participants. ConnectCare coordinators know the Gold Coast market personally:

  • We know which providers have long waitlists and which can start next week
  • We know which therapists are currently accepting NDIS referrals on the Gold Coast
  • We've seen firsthand which workers are reliable and suited to complex support needs
  • We understand local transport and geography — what's realistic in Coomera isn't always realistic in Coolangatta
  • We have relationships with providers, which means faster issue resolution if things go wrong

This on-the-ground knowledge is why participants who come to ConnectCare are typically connected with a working provider far faster than those who search independently. We also have specialised provider networks for autism support, psychosocial disability and mental health, physical disability, and acquired brain injury.

Trust, Safety & Professionalism

  • Every worker holds a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • We meet every provider in person before adding them to our network
  • Public liability insurance verified for every contractor
  • Reference checks from previous NDIS placements
  • Police checks renewed at minimum 3-year intervals
  • Service agreements signed before any work begins
  • Incident reporting process aligned with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
  • Right to change providers at any time, no questions asked

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to be matched with an NDIS support worker on the Gold Coast?

Most participants are matched within 3–5 business days of their initial consultation. For specialist requirements (e.g. complex behaviour support, specific language, or unusual schedules) it can take a little longer — but we'll always tell you up front.

What if the support worker isn't a good fit?

You're never locked in. If a match doesn't work — for any reason — we'll find someone else. There's no awkward conversation required. You tell us, we make the change. This is one of the biggest advantages of working with a coordinator rather than finding workers yourself.

Can I request a specific gender, language, or cultural background?

Absolutely. Personal fit matters. We routinely match participants with workers based on gender preference, spoken language, cultural background, religion, age, and personality fit. The more specific you are, the better the match.

Do you connect participants with allied health professionals (OTs, psychologists, etc.)?

Yes. Our network includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, behaviour support practitioners, and exercise physiologists across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW. We coordinate referrals and bookings as part of standard support coordination.

Are all your support workers NDIS registered?

ConnectCare is a support work connection platform that works with a wide network of qualified, vetted independent contractors and small providers. Whether a specific worker can be paid from your NDIS funding will depend on your plan management type — we'll always confirm what's possible for your situation before connecting you with a worker.

What kinds of support workers do you connect on the Gold Coast?

Personal care, community access, daily living, transport assistance, domestic assistance, gardening, social and recreational support, autism support workers, mental health support workers, and respite. We also connect therapists, behaviour support practitioners, and SIL operators.
